"As a type 2 diabetic I was struggling over many years whereby my medication was ever increasing to the point where my GP suggested that I was going to have to go on insulin injections. When I started working with Matt, I set a target for Matt to help me lower my sugar and cholesterol levels within the first three months, and agreed with my GP that we would postpone the insulin decision accordingly.  

After the first three month working with Matt, my GP told me that if I could keep this up, he would start reducing my daily medicine intake. We are now in the phase where we are doing this..

“Prior to my coaching with Matt I lived a fast pace life with little or no consideration to my health and the impact it was having on my wellbeing. I was getting less than 4 hours of sleep a night and eating regular balanced meals were non-existent. I was under immense pressure at work which perpetuated the unhealthy cycle resulting in weight gain over the past 2 years. I was exhausted at the end of every day which left little or no energy for a social life or my personal interests.  Needless to say my quality of life was not where I wanted it to be.

"As a former marathon runner, it's fair to say I've always been interested in fitness and nutrition however following the birth of my twins and a promotion at work, finding the time and inclination to wade through the myriad of health advice available in shiny books and glossy magazines all began to feel overwhelming. I tried a few of the latest diet methods but although successful in terms of getting my weight down (for a few weeks anyway) they exasperated my tiredness and affected my ability to concentrate. As a consequence, I was not able to stick with these methods for very long. 

I thought feeling constantly tired, hungry (not to mention irritable and bad tempered) went with the territory of being an (almost) 40 year old working mother of small children. I was in short, resigned to the fact that this was my life now, that I wasn't able to prioritise my own health and wellbeing and any efforts to do so would be futile because of my age.

The changes Matt introduced me to initially were very small (changing my erratic breakfast habits for one) but the immediate results I have to say were remarkable. I'm not talking about a rapid, dramatic weight loss here, I'm talking more about the effects on my energy levels and mood. The constant tiredness and hunger pangs were gone and I could see changes to my tone and physique which led me to think it was possible to achieve the body shape I thought would evade me given I was heading into my 40's.

​This is the longest amount of time I've stuck with anything like this. This is largely because the changes in habits are simple to integrate into everyday life, for example no one is pointing and saying 'spot the 5:2er' when I sit down to have a meal in a restaurant and I can easily join in with what the rest of my family are eating. I'm still working with Matt because by working with him, anything I thought unrealistic or unachievable before has now become very doable.
